What Size Should I Buy
in High Heel Shoes?

What size do you recommend for this high heel shoe?
Does it (the high heel shoe) run true to size?
Or, is it a little big or small?

So, you are looking for a new pair of sexy high heels shoes. But, what size is the right size? I get this question all the time. It is in my personal opinion that just because you are buying a pair of high heels does NOT mean that you need a larger size.

The reason I say this is I watch our high heel shoe returns. From this, I have seen that we receive many more shoes that are too big rather than too small. I truly believe that because a few other web sites recommend you order 1/2 size or more larger than your regular size just because you are buying high heels is incorrect. Yes, because of the height of the high heels the toes are forced a little forward BUT when you order a larger size, whether it be high heels or flats the shoe not only gets longer but it get a little bigger all over. Of course this is an observation and is not always accurate.

All of the manufacturers that we deal with say that their shoes are "true to size" but if that were true then we would never get shoes returned for being the wrong size.(wake me up... I must have been dreaming).I believe that for the most part all of our manufacturers are making shoes using a standardize sizing pattern but, people are not made from a standardize pattern and neither are their feet. Some are long and skinny (narrow), some are short and fat. There are some feet with really long toes and probably some feet with 6 toes.

Also, from watching our returns I know we have less high heels returned for being to big or too small on the high heel brands that the shoes are made in a factory located in the USA. I do not know why this is and I am not recommending one brand over the other but just maybe the standardized shoe sizing the manufacturers use in the USA use are just a little different than those made over seas. I am going to a trade show in the near future and will see if anyone can tell me more. If I find out any pertinent information it will be added here.

I don't know why this is and is just again an observation. High heels & boots that are made in the USA are usually a little high in price but again, in my opinion, you get a little better quality and comfort. I have bought high heels from every different brand I sell at one time or the other. Since I used to be a dancer I know that you can wear your high heels out quickly. When you are wearing them 6 to 8 hours, 3 to 5 days or nights per week and dancing in them, it doesn't take long to wear them out no matter where they are made, but shoes made in the USA seem to last a light bit longer. I also have noticed that high heels made in the USA tend to run a little bigger than those made overseas.

In the meantime. If you are looking for a new pair of high heels, learn the high heel shoe brands that fit you well and watch for them when you are browsing. Write down the style name or Item # for reference. So, my conclusion is, if your just looking for a cute pair of high heels shoes or boots, brand doesn't really matter. Order the size you would usually buy from a shoe store in the mall. Just one more note... I do know that in clothing when you are looking at higher end designer clothing the sizing runs smaller than in less expensive brands. It could be that it is the same in shoes.
